Are you one of those who thinks a life coach is someone who will automatically change your life? Well, here’s the truth – a life coach will do more than that. A life coach will help you plan and then hold you accountable so that you have the satisfaction of changing your own life. The life coach is your compass that helps you stay put on the map – a map that you generate by following the life coach’s lessons.
So, a life coach doesn’t give you answers, doesn’t suggest, is not a therapist – is not even willing to be your best friend! So what does a coach do? How does he or she add value to your life?
Here’s a quick list:
- Clean the lens with which you look at world: Turns out that what they do is just make you see your world in a clearer way. If you’re feeling stuck or trying to find a solution, it’s as if you’re going through life with a blindfold on – the coach simply takes your blindfold off!
- Hear Yourself and Actually Listen: Life coaches make you ‘hear’ yourselves and they may challenge the view you have of your world. Through questions they make you think, and this makes you view your world differently. And this opens up a host of possibilities and you start to feel differently.
- Hold You Accountable: What coaches also do is hold you accountable to action. It’s like having someone with you who believes in you even more than you yourself do – and having that person hold you accountable to doing – not just planning!
So, a life coach pretty much clears up the fog in front of your eyes – so that you see, hear and experience the world differently. Once that happens , your old challenges/setbacks no longer have power over you – and then, if you take the action – you are a winner!
In essence, you walk the talk that they make you talk! So, are you willing to get yourself a life coach?
