I met Swagata years ago. Her sense of humour floored me and ensured that she was the life of every party. But, soon I found another side of her. Grit and enthusiasm are a part of her everyday life. She has changed her body to fall in love with herself more fully. Here, I am sharing her story with a letter to all women about her journey and why it is important to love your body!
Dear You – yes, You. The one who is Googling way to lose weight quickly and love herself more,
Being fit in today’s world has either become a fashion or it has become an addiction for someone. But for me it’s an addiction and it’s about being in love with my body. We as a women ignore ourselves either because of kids, household chores, office, and sometimes both and yes we are the one who always get targeted…Like …oh! you have become fat, you are not what you use to be,my God! What’s wrong with you you have put on much of weight and we self pity ourselves…Why? Why?
There must be hundreds of excuses but the moment you stop making one you are bringing some change in your mindset. I am a fitness enthusiast – I love working out and make sure my students also do so. Well, six years ago it was just a dream – I made excuses like others, I made mistakes like others, I hated myself, I didn’t like my body. One day it just stuck me the same thing WHY? I was in Delhi during that time, my neighbor introduced me in Aerobics and I fell in love with it, I started seeing a new me. But then my friends, my husband noticed it in me…then there was no look back I started taking this seriously and after getting posted out from Delhi I went for professional training by renowned trainer Yasmin Karachiwala .
After that there was no stopping I learned Pilates from her and received my certification from Body Image (New York). After coming back from Mumbai I have started my studio in Landmark Hotel Kanpur the only 5 star hotel in Kanpur. I started getting my students who were keen on losing weight. I assured them that they will but the only condition was no excuses and regular attendance.
Now after 3 months they have changed completely and it is now their addiction. My real success is this: I have made them realise that it’s your body and you have to live in it. They have transformed, but there is still a long way to go and one day I will make sure that nobody, no one complains about his or her body with self-pity as an excuse.
Stay Fit Love Yourself, and your Body Will Love You.
